And David said unto him, From where come you? And he said unto him, Out of the camp of Israel am I escaped.


And he said unto me, Who are you? And I answered him, I am an Amalekite.


A righteous man regards the life of his animal: but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.


Then said they unto him, Tell us, we pray you, for whose cause this evil is upon us; What is your occupation? and from where come you? what is your country? and of what people are you?


For he shall have judgment without mercy, that has showed no mercy; and mercy triumphs over judgment.


And they gave him a piece of a cake of figs, and two clusters of raisins: and when he had eaten, his spirit came again to him: for he had eaten no bread, nor drunk any water, three days and three nights.


We made an invasion upon the south area of the Cherethites, and upon the territory which belongs to Judah, and upon the south area of Caleb; and we burned Ziklag with fire.
