Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.


So David went up there, and his two wives also, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail Nabal’s widow the Carmelite.


And unto David were sons born in Hebron: and his firstborn was Amnon, of Ahinoam the Jezreelitess;


And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they two shall be one flesh?


He said unto them, Moses because of the hardness of your hearts allowed you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so.


And Jezreel, and Jokdeam, and Zanoah,


And David dwelt with Achish at Gath, he and his men, every man with his household, even David with his two wives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the Carmelitess, Nabal's widow.


So David and his men rose up early to depart in the morning, to return into the land of the Philistines. And the Philistines went up to Jezreel.


And David's two wives were taken captives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the widow of Nabal the Carmelite.
