And unto Abiathar the priest said the king, Get you to Anathoth, unto your own fields; for you are worthy of death: but I will not at this time put you to death, because you bore the ark of the Lord GOD before David my father, and because you have been afflicted in all in which my father was afflicted.


Call unto me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you know not.


For the children of Israel shall abide many days without a king, and without a prince, and without a sacrifice, and without an image, and without an ephod, and without teraphim:


And he shall stand before Eleazar the priest, who shall ask counsel for him after the judgment of Urim before the LORD: at his word shall they go out, and at his word they shall come in, both he, and all the children of Israel with him, even all the congregation.


They were aware of it, and fled unto Lystra and Derbe, cities of Lycaonia, and unto the region that lies round about:


But their plot was known of Saul. And they watched the gates day and night to kill him.


Therefore they inquired of the LORD further, if the man should yet come there. And the LORD answered, Behold, he has hid himself among the baggage.


And Saul said unto Ahijah, Bring here the ark of God. For the ark of God was at that time with the children of Israel.


And one of the sons of Ahimelech the son of Ahitub, named Abiathar, escaped, and fled after David.


Then said David, O LORD God of Israel, your servant has certainly heard that Saul seeks to come to Keilah, to destroy the city for my sake.


And it came to pass, when Abiathar the son of Ahimelech fled to David to Keilah, that he came down with an ephod in his hand.


And Saul called all the people together to war, to go down to Keilah, to besiege David and his men.


And David said to Abiathar the priest, Ahimelech's son, I pray you, bring me here the ephod. And Abiathar brought there the ephod to David.
