And Joseph made haste; for his heart did yearn over his brother: and he sought where to weep; and he entered into his chamber, and wept there.


And the king said, Divide the living child in two, and give half to the one, and half to the other.


Then the king answered and said, Give her the living child, and by no means slay it: she is the mother of it.


My heart was hot within me, while I was meditating the fire burned: then spoke I with my tongue,


Can a woman forget her nursing child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget you.


Is Ephraim my dear son? is he a pleasant child? for since I spoke against him, I do earnestly remember him still: therefore my heart is troubled for him; I will surely have mercy upon him, says the LORD.


How shall I give you up, Ephraim? how shall I deliver you, Israel? how shall I make you as Admah? how shall I set you as Zeboiim? my heart is turned within me, my compassion is stirred.


Without understanding, covenant breakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:


For God is my witness, how greatly I long after you all in the affections of Jesus Christ.


If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affections and mercies,


Without natural affection, truce breakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,


But whoever has this world's goods, and sees his brother have need, and shuts up his heart of compassion from him, how dwells the love of God in him?
