And when Rachel saw that she bore Jacob no children, Rachel envied her sister; and said unto Jacob, Give me children, or else I die.


And his brothers envied him; but his father observed the saying.


And refused to obey, neither were mindful of your wonders that you did among them; but hardened their necks, and in their rebellion appointed a leader to return to their bondage: but you are a God ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and forsook them not.


His ways are always prosperous; your judgments are far above, out of his sight: as for all his enemies, he sneers at them.


Hatred stirs up strife: but love covers all sins.


Only by pride comes strife: but with the well advised is wisdom.


The beginning of strife is like releasing water: therefore leave off contention, before a quarrel starts.


He that covers over a transgression seeks love; but he that repeats a matter separates close friends.


The desire of a man is his kindness: and a poor man is better than a liar.


She stretches out her hand to the poor; yea, she reaches forth her hands to the needy.


She opens her mouth with wisdom; and on her tongue is the law of kindness.


If the spirit of the ruler rises up against you, leave not your post; for yielding pacifies great offences.


For he knew that for envy they had delivered him.


And the patriarchs, moved with envy, sold Joseph into Egypt: but God was with him,


Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,


Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in reveling and drunkenness, not in debauchery and wantonness, not in strife and envying.


For you are yet carnal: for while there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are you not carnal, and walk as men?


Now some are puffed up, as though I would not come to you.


And these things, brethren, I have in a figure transferred to myself and to Apollos for your sakes; that you might learn in us not to think of men above that which is written, that no one of you be puffed up for one against another.


And you are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he that has done this deed might be taken away from among you.


Now concerning things offered unto idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love edifies.


For I fear, lest, when I come, I shall not find you such as I wish, and that I shall be found unto you such as you desire not: lest there be debates, envyings, wraths, strifes, backbitings, whisperings, conceit, tumults:


By pureness, by knowledge, by longsuffering, by kindness, by the Holy Spirit, by love unfeigned,


Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.


With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;


And be you kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake has forgiven you.


Some indeed preach Christ even of envy and strife; and some also of good will:


Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness;


Let no man deceive you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshiping of angels, intruding into those things which he has not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind,


Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, compassion, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;


Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are idle, encourage the faint-hearted, support the weak, be patient toward all men.


He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting over questions and disputes of words, out of which comes envy, strife, railings, evil suspicions,


In meekness instructing those that oppose them; if God perhaps will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;


But you have fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, love, patience,


Preach the word; be diligent in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.


For we ourselves also were once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.


Do you think that the scripture says in vain, The spirit that dwells in us lusts to envy?


Therefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speaking,


Finally, be all of one mind, having compassion one with another, love as brethren, be tender hearted, be courteous:


And above all things have fervent love among yourselves: for love shall cover a multitude of sins.


And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness love.


Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.
