And Abram was very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold.


And Lot also, which went with Abram, had flocks, and herds, and tents.


And Leah conceived, and bare a son, and she called his name Reuven: for she said, Surely YY hath looked upon my affliction; now therefore my husband will love me.


They said morever unto Pharaoh, For to sojourn in the land are we come; for thy servants have no pasture for their flocks; for the famine is sore in the land of Kenaan: now therefore, we pray thee, let thy servants dwell in the land of Goshen.


And they passed over Yarden, and pitched in Aroer, on the right side of the city that lieth in the midst of the river of Gad, and toward Jazer:


Then they came to Gilad, and to the land of Tahtimhodshi; and they came to Danjaan, and about to Zidon,


And these written by name came in the days of Hizkiyah-yahu king of Yhudah, and smote their tents, and the habitations that were found there, and destroyed them utterly unto this day, and dwelt in their rooms: because there was pasture there for their flocks.


And a mixed multitude went up also with them; and flocks, and herds, even very much cattle.


For thus saith YY unto the king's house of Yhudah; Thou art Gilad unto me, and the head of Lvanon: yet surely I will make thee a wilderness, and cities which are not inhabited.


O vine of Sibmah, I will weep for thee with the weeping of Jazer: thy plants are gone over the sea, they reach even to the sea of Jazer: the spoiler is fallen upon thy summer fruits and upon thy vintage.


And I will bring Yisrael again to his habitation, and he shall feed on Carmel and Bashan, and his soul shall be satisfied upon mount Efrayim and Gilad.


Is there no balm in Gilad; is there no physician there? why then is not the health of the daughter of my people recovered?


Feed thy people with thy rod, the flock of thine heritage, which dwell solitarily in the wood, in the midst of Carmel: let them feed in Bashan and Gilad, as in the days of old.


And Moshe sent to spy out Jaazer, and they took the villages thereof, and drove out the Amorites that were there.


The children of Gad and the children of Reuven came and spake unto Moshe, and to Eleazar the kohen, and unto the princes of the congregation, saying,


Our little ones, our wives, our flocks, and all our cattle, shall be there in the cities of Gilad:


Ataroth, and Dibon, and Jazer, and Nimrah, and Heshbon, and Elealeh, and Shvam, and Nvo, and Beon,


And Atroth, Shophan, and Jaazer, and Jogbehah,


And he provided the first part for himself, because there, in a portion of the Torahgiver, was he seated; and he came with the heads of the people, he executed the justice of YY , and his judgments with Yisrael.


And their coast was Jazer, and all the cities of Gilad, and half the land of the children of Ammon, unto Aroer that is before Rabbah;


And the children of Yisrael sent unto the children of Reuven, and to the children of Gad, and to the half tribe of Mnasheh, into the land of Gilad, Pinchas the son of Eleazar the kohen,


And the children of Reuven and the children of Gad and the half tribe of Mnasheh returned, and departed from the children of Yisrael out of Shiloh, which is in the land of Kenaan, to go unto the country of Gilad, to the land of their possession, whereof they were possessed, according to the word of YY by the hand of Moshe.


For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.


Why abodest thou among the sheepfolds, to hear the bleatings of the flocks? For the divisions of Reuven there were great searchings of heart.
