Now when Y'shuw`a was born in Beith-Lechem of Yhudah in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came "wise men" from the east to Yerushalayim,


And there followed him great multitudes of people from Galil, and from Decapolis, and from Yerushalayim, and from Yhudah, and from beyond Yarden.


And there went out unto him all the land of Yhudah, and they of Yerushalayim, and were all immersed of him in the river of Yarden, confessing their sins.


The Torah and the prophets were until Yochanan: since that time the Kingdom of Elohim is preached, and every man presseth into it.


And he came into all the country about Yarden, preaching the immersion of repentance for the remission of sins;


Then said he to the multitude that came forth to be immersed of him, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?


And Yochanan also was immersing in Einayim near to Shalem, because there was much water there: and they came, and were immersed.


He was a burning and a shining light: and ye were willing for a season to rejoice in his light.
