And David's heart smote him after that he had numbered the people. And David said unto YY , I have sinned greatly in that I have done: and now, I beseech thee, O YY , take away the iniquity of thy servant; for I have done very foolishly.


So the posts went with the letters from the king and his princes throughout all Yisrael and Yhudah, and according to the commandment of the king, saying, Ye children of Yisrael, turn again unto YY Elohim of Avraham, Yitzchak, and Yisrael, and he will return to the remnant of you, that are escaped out of the hand of the kings of Ashur.


Then hear thou from heaven, and forgive the sin of thy servants, and of thy people Yisrael, when thou hast taught them the good way, wherein they should walk; and send rain upon thy land, which thou hast given unto thy people for an inheritance.


Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast ye for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens will fast likewise; and so will I go in unto the king, which is not according to the Torah: and if I perish, I perish.


For YY had said unto Moshe, Say unto the children of Yisrael, Ye are a stiffnecked people: I will come up into the midst of thee in a moment, and consume thee: therefore now put off thy ornaments from thee, that I may know what to do unto thee.


And in that day did YY Elohim of hosts call to weeping, and to mourning, and to baldness, and to girding with sackcloth:


Behold, ye fast for strife and debate, and to smite with the fist of wickedness: ye shall not fast as ye do this day, to make your voice to be heard on high.


Return, ye backsliding children, and I will heal your backslidings. Behold, we come unto thee; for thou art YY our Elohim.


It may be they will present their supplication before YY , and will return every one from his evil way: for great is the anger and the fury that YY hath pronounced against this people.


If thou wilt return, O Yisrael, saith YY , return unto me: and if thou wilt put away thine abominations out of my sight, then shalt thou not remove.


And thou shalt swear, YY liveth, in truth, in judgment, and in righteousness; and the nations shall bless themselves in him, and in him shall they glory.


Say unto them, As I live, saith YY Elohim, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Yisrael?


And I set my face unto YY Elohim, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes:


Therefore turn thou to thy Elohim: keep mercy and judgment and wait on thy Elohim continually.


He is a merchant, the balances of deceit are in his hand: he loveth to oppress.


O Yisrael, return unto YY thy Elohim; for thou hast fallen by thine iniquity.


Come, and let us return unto YY : for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up.


Gird yourselves, and lament, ye kohanim: howl, ye ministers of the altar: come, lie all night in sackcloth, ye ministers of my Elohim: for the meat offering and the drink offering is withholden from the house of your Elohim.


And to speak unto the kohanim which were in the house of YY -TZvaot, and to the prophets, saying, Should I weep in the fifth month, separating myself, as I have done these so many years?


Speak unto all the people of the land, and to the kohanim, saying, When ye fasted and mourned in the fifth and seventh month, even those seventy years, did ye at all fast unto me, even to me?


And now, I pray you, beseech Elohim that he will be gracious unto us: this hath been by your means: will he regard your persons? saith YY -TZvaot.


But shewed first unto them of Dammesek, and at Yerushalayim, and throughout all the coasts of Yhudah, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to Elohim, and do works meet for repentance.


And it came to pass, when the angel of YY spake these words unto all the children of Yisrael, that the people lifted up their voice, and wept.


Then all the children of Yisrael, and all the people, went up, and came unto the house of Elohim, and wept, and sat there before YY , and fasted that day until even, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before YY .


And Shmuel spake unto all the house of Yisrael, saying, If ye do return unto YY with all your hearts, then put away the strange elohim and Ashtaroth from among you, and prepare your hearts unto YY , and serve him only: and he will deliver you out of the hand of the Plishtim.


And they gathered together to Mizpeh, and drew water, and poured it out before YY , and fasted on that day, and said there, We have sinned against YY . And Shmuel judged the children of Yisrael in Mizpeh.
