1 And it came to pass after this, that David enquired of YY , saying, Shall I go up into any of the cities of Yhudah? And YY said unto him, Go up. And David said, Whither shall I go up? And he said, Unto Hevron.

Then Abram removed his tent, and came and dwelt in the plain of Mamre, which is in Hevron, and built there an altar unto YY .


And when Yaakov saw them, he said, This is Elohim's host: and he called the name of that place Mahanaim.


And it came to pass after forty years, that Avshalom said unto the king, I pray thee, let me go and pay my vow, which I have vowed unto YY , in Hevron.


And the time that David was king in Hevron over the house of Yhudah was seven years and six months.


And David enquired of YY , saying, Shall I go up to the Plishtim? wilt thou deliver them into mine hand? And YY said unto David, Go up: for I will doubtless deliver the Plishtim into thine hand.


And when David enquired of YY , he said, Thou shalt not go up; but fetch a compass behind them, and come upon them over against the mulberry trees.


And the days that David reigned over Yisrael were forty years: seven years reigned he in Hevron, and thirty and three years reigned he in Yerushalayim.


And gave for the service of the house of Elohim of gold five thousand talents and ten thousand drams, and of silver ten thousand talents, and of brass eighteen thousand talents, and one hundred thousand talents of iron.


And Zorah, and Aijalon, and Hevron, which are in Yhudah and in Binyamin fenced cities.


Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee.


One thing have I desired of YY , that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of YY all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of YY , and to enquire in his temple.


Thus saith YY Elohim; I will yet for this be enquired of by the house of Yisrael, to do it for them; I will increase them with men like a flock.


And they ascended by the south, and came unto Hevron; where Ahiman, Sheshai, and Talmai, the children of Anak, were. (Now Hevron was built seven years before Zoan in Egypt.)


And he shall stand before Eleazar the kohen, who shall ask counsel for him after the judgment of Urim before YY : at his word shall they go out, and at his word they shall come in, both he, and all the children of Yisrael with him, even all the congregation.


And unto Kalev the son of Yfuneh he gave a part among the children of Yhudah, according to The Commandment of YY to Y'howshu`a, even the city of Arba the father of Anak, which city is Hevron.


Now after the death of Y'howshu`a it came to pass, that the children of Yisrael asked YY , saying, Who shall go up for us against the Kenaanim first, to fight against them?


Therefore they enquired of YY further, if the man should yet come thither. And YY answered, Behold he hath hid himself among the stuff.


Therefore David enquired of YY , saying, Shall I go and smite these Plishtim? And YY said unto David, Go, and smite the Plishtim, and save Keilah.


Then David enquired of YY yet again. And YY answered him and said, Arise, go down to Keilah; for I will deliver the Plishtim into thine hand.


And to them which were in Hevron, and to all the places where David himself and his men were wont to haunt.
