Therefore I counsel that all Yisrael be generally gathered unto thee, from Dan even to Beer-Sheva, as the sand that is by the sea for multitude; and that thou go to battle in thine own person.


But Abishai the son of TZruyah succoured him, and smote the Plishti, and killed him. Then the men of David sware unto him, saying, Thou shalt go no more out with us to battle, that thou quench not the light of Yisrael.


And Abishai, the brother of Yoav, the son of TZruyah, was chief among three. And he lifted up his spear against three hundred, and slew them, and had the name among three.


And Yoav the son of TZruyah was over the host; and Yhoshafat the son of Ahilud was recorder;


Then tidings came to Yoav: for Yoav had turned after AdoniYAH, though he turned not after Avshalom. And Yoav fled unto the tabernacle of YY , and caught hold on the shofars of the altar.


I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about.


And he divided the three hundred men into three companies, and he put a shofar in every man's hand, with empty pitchers, and menorahs within the pitchers.


So Gidon, and the hundred men that were with him, came unto the outside of the camp in the beginning of the middle watch; and they had but newly set the watch: and they blew the shofars, and brake the pitchers that were in their hands.


And he took the people, and divided them into three companies, and laid wait in the field, and looked, and, behold, the people were come forth out of the city; and he rose up against them, and smote them.


And it was so on the morrow, that Saul put the people in three companies; and they came into the midst of the host in the morning watch, and slew the Ammonites until the heat of the day: and it came to pass, that they which remained were scattered, so that two of them were not left together.
