And they shall fall one upon another, as it were before a sword, when none pursueth: and ye shall have no power to stand before your enemies.


Then the Amalekites came down, and the Kenaanim which dwelt in that hill, and smote them, and discomfited them, even unto Hormah.


Therefore the children of Yisrael could not stand before their enemies, but turned their backs before their enemies, because they were accursed: neither will I be with you any more, except ye destroy the accursed from among you.


For Yisrael and the Plishtim had put the battle in array, army against army.


And he stood and cried unto the armies of Yisrael, and said unto them, Why are ye come out to set your battle in array? am not I a Plishti, and ye servants to Saul? choose you a man for you, and let him come down to me.


And the word of Shmuel came to all Yisrael. Now Yisrael went out against the Plishtim to battle, and pitched beside Ebenezer: and the Plishtim pitched in Aphek.


And the Plishtim fought, and Yisrael was smitten, and they fled every man into his tent: and there was a very great slaughter; for there fell of Yisrael thirty thousand footmen.


And when the people were come into the camp, the elders of Yisrael said, Wherefore hath YY smitten us to day before the Plishtim? Let us fetch the ark of the covenant of YY out of Shiloh unto us, that, when it cometh among us, it may save us out of the hand of our enemies.
