I had two sons. They were out in the field fighting. There was no one to stop them. One son killed the other son.


You know I am innocent, but no one can save me from your power!


They are like lions hiding in the bushes to catch weak and helpless animals. They lay their traps for the poor, who are caught in their nets.


I trust in the Lord, so why did you tell me to run and hide? Why did you say, “Fly like a bird to your mountain?”


Protect me, God, because I depend on you.


Like hungry lions, they want to kill and eat. Like young lions, they hide, ready to attack.


Their mouths are opened wide, like a lion roaring and tearing at its prey.


Listen to me. Come quickly and save me. Be my Rock, my place of safety. Be my fortress and protect me!


But when I had troubles, they laughed at me. They were not really friends. I was surrounded and attacked by people I didn’t even know.


You people who have forgotten God, understand what I am telling you, or I will tear you apart, and no one will be able to save you!


Save me from those who do wrong. Save me from those murderers.


The shouts of an angry king are like a roaring lion, but his kind words are like a gentle rain falling softly on the grass.
