People made fun of him, and even his friends left him. He was a man who suffered a lot of pain and sickness. We treated him like someone of no importance, like someone people will not even look at but turn away from in disgust.


Then some of the Pharisees and teachers of the law answered Jesus. They said, “Teacher, we want to see you do a miracle as a sign from God.”


It is the evil and sinful people who want to see a miracle as a sign from God. But no miracle will be done to prove anything to them. The only sign will be the miracle that happened to Jonah.” Then Jesus went away from there.


Jesus looked at the people. He was angry, but he felt very sad because they were so stubborn. He said to the man, “Hold out your hand.” The man held out his hand, and it was healed.


He was surprised that the people there had no faith. Then he went to other villages in that area and taught.


Jesus looked up to the sky and with a loud sigh he said, “Ephphatha!” (This means “Open!”)


Then Jesus left them and went in the boat to the other side of the lake.


Jesus answered, “You people today don’t believe! How long must I stay with you? How long must I be patient with you? Bring the boy to me!”


Jesus came near Jerusalem. Looking at the city, he began to cry for it
