After Jesus said goodbye to the people, he went up into the hills by himself to pray. It was late, and he was there alone.


Then Jesus went with his followers to a place called Gethsemane. He said to them, “Sit here while I go there and pray.”


One time Jesus was out praying, and when he finished, one of his followers said to him, “John taught his followers how to pray. Lord, teach us how to pray too.”


When all the people were being baptized, Jesus came and was baptized too. And while he was praying, the sky opened,


A few days later, Jesus went out to a mountain to pray. He stayed there all night praying to God.


They answered, “Some people say you are John the Baptizer. Others say you are Elijah. And some people say you are one of the prophets from long ago that has come back to life.”


About eight days after Jesus said these things, he took Peter, John, and James and went up on a mountain to pray.


While Jesus was praying, his face began to change. His clothes became shining white.
