You ignored my advice and refused to be corrected.


“‘You keep saying, “We have the Lord’s teachings. So we are wise!” But this is not true, because the scribes have lied with their pens.


Then one of them, an expert in the Law of Moses, asked Jesus a question to test him.


“Jerusalem, Jerusalem! You kill the prophets. You stone to death the people God has sent to you. How many times I wanted to help your people. I wanted to gather them together as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings. But you did not let me.


But if we say that John’s baptism was from someone else, the people will stone us to death. They all believe that John was a prophet.”


“What shall I say about the people of this time? What can I compare them to? What are they like?


I can say this because I know that I told you everything that God wants you to know.


But about the people of Israel God says, “All day long I stood ready to accept those people, but they are stubborn and refuse to obey me.” Isaiah 65:2


We are workers together with God. So we beg you: Don’t let the grace that you received from God be for nothing.


I am not the one destroying the meaning of God’s grace. If following the law is how people are made right with God, then Christ did not have to die.


In Christ we were chosen to be God’s people. God had already planned for us to be his people, because that is what he wanted. And he is the one who makes everything agree with what he decides and wants.
