When they got their silver coin, they complained to the man who owned the land.


So he said to them, ‘If you go and work in my field, I will pay you what your work is worth.’


The Pharisees saw that Jesus was eating with these people. They asked his followers, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and other sinners?”


Then the Pharisees and the teachers of the law began to complain, “Look, this man welcomes sinners and even eats with them!”


Zacchaeus hurried and came down. He was happy to have Jesus in his house.


Zacchaeus said to the Lord, “I want to do good. I will give half of my money to the poor. If I have cheated anyone, I will pay them back four times more.”


But the Pharisees and those who taught the law for the Pharisees began to complain to the followers of Jesus, “Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and other sinners?”


The Son of Man came eating and drinking. And you say, ‘Look at him! He eats too much and drinks too much wine! He is a friend of tax collectors and other sinners!’


When the Pharisee who asked Jesus to come to his house saw this, he thought to himself, “If this man were a prophet, he would know that the woman who is touching him is a sinner!”
