If it is a matter of strength, behold, he is mighty! If of justice, 'Who,' says he, 'will summon me?'


God has spoken once; twice I have heard this, that power belongs to God.


In that day, the LORD with his hard and great and strong sword will punish livyatan, the fleeing serpent, and livyatan the twisted serpent; and he will kill the dragon that is in the sea.


Therefore the LORD will cut off from Yisra'el head and tail, palm branch and reed, in one day.


Behold, I am against you, you proud one, says the Lord, the LORD of Armies; for your day is come, the time that I will visit you.


Their Redeemer is strong; the LORD of Armies is his name: he will thoroughly plead their cause, that he may give rest to the earth, and disquiet the inhabitants of Bavel.


Thus says the LORD of Armies: The broad walls of Bavel shall be utterly overthrown, and her high gates shall be burned with fire; and the peoples shall labor for vanity, and the nations for the fire; and they shall be weary.


Flee out of the midst of Bavel, and save every man his life; don't be cut off in her iniquity: for it is the time of the LORD's vengeance; he will render to her a recompense.

Or do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than he?


saying: *We give you thanks, Lord God, the Almighty, the one who is and who was; because you have taken your great power, and reigned.


The ten horns which you saw, and the beast, these will hate the prostitute, and will make her desolate, and will make her naked, and will eat her flesh, and will burn her utterly with fire.


The woman whom you saw is the great city, which reigns over the kings of the earth.*


For in an hour such great riches are made desolate.' Every shipmaster, and everyone who sails anywhere, and mariners, and as many as gain their living by sea, stood far away,


They cast dust on their heads, and cried, weeping and mourning, saying, 'Woe, woe, the great city, in which all who had their ships in the sea were made rich by reason of her great wealth!' For in one hour is she made desolate.


A second said, *Halleluyah! Her smoke goes up forever and ever.*
