Avshalom and all the men of Yisra'el said, The counsel of Chushai the Arki is better than the counsel of Achitofel. For the LORD had ordained to defeat the good counsel of Achitofel, to the intent that the LORD might bring evil on Avshalom.


The LORD executes righteous acts, and justice for all who are oppressed.


*Because of the oppression of the weak and because of the groaning of the needy, I will now arise,* says the LORD; *I will set him in safety from those who malign him.*


Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you will revive me. You will stretch forth your hand against the wrath of my enemies. Your right hand will save me.


For the enemy pursues my soul. He has struck my life down to the ground. He has made me live in dark places, as those who have been long dead.


Arise, LORD! Save me, my God! For you have struck all of my enemies on the cheek bone. You have broken the teeth of the wicked.


Wake up! Rise up to defend me, my God! My Lord, contend for me!


Wake up! Why do you sleep, Lord? Arise! Don't reject us forever.


Rise up to help us. Redeem us for your loving kindness' sake.


You, LORD God Tzeva'ot, the God of Yisra'el, rouse yourself to punish the nations. Show no mercy to the wicked traitors. Selah.


As a dream when one wakes up, so, Lord, when you awake, you will despise their fantasies.


Lift up your feet to the perpetual ruins, all the evil that the enemy has done in the sanctuary.


Then the Lord awakened as one out of sleep, like a mighty man who shouts by reason of wine.


The LORD stands up to contend, and stands to judge the peoples.


*Now I will arise,* says the LORD; *Now I will lift myself up. Now I will be exalted.


Now therefore, LORD our God, save us from his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that you are the LORD, even you only.*


Awake, awake, put on strength, arm of the LORD; awake, as in the days of old, the generations of ancient times. Isn't it you who did cut Rachav in pieces, who pierced the monster?
