Kayin knew his wife. She conceived, and gave birth to Chanokh. He built a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Chanokh.


Now Avshalom in his lifetime had taken and reared up for himself the pillar, which is in the king's dale; for he said, I have no son to keep my name in memory: and he called the pillar after his own name; and it is called Avshalom's monument, to this day.


He says in his heart, *I shall not be shaken. For generations I shall have no trouble.*


Now, Lord, what do I wait for? My hope is in you.


For there is no faithfulness in their mouth. Their heart is destruction. Their throat is an open tomb. They flatter with their tongue.


They plot injustice, saying, *We have made a perfect plan!* Surely man's mind and heart are cunning.


The wise man's eyes are in his head, and the fool walks in darkness--and yet I perceived that one event happens to them all.


For there is a man whose labor is with wisdom, with knowledge, and with skillfulness; yet he shall leave it for his portion to a man who has not labored for it. This also is vanity and a great evil.


Thus says the Lord GOD: It shall happen in that day, that things shall come into your mind, and you shall devise an evil device:


The Lord said to him, *Now you Perushim cleanse the outside of the cup and of the platter, but your inward part is full of extortion and wickedness.


Repent therefore of this, your wickedness, and ask God if perhaps the thought of your heart may be forgiven you.
