When your days are fulfilled, and you shall sleep with your fathers, I will set up your seed after you, who shall proceed out of your bowels, and I will establish his kingdom.


I will be his father, and he shall be my son: if he commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men;


Your house and your kingdom shall be made sure for ever before you: your throne shall be established forever.


Also thus said the king, Blessed be the LORD, the God of Yisra'el, who has given one to sit on my throne this day, my eyes even seeing it.


Now therefore, LORD, the God of Yisra'el, keep with your servant David my father that which you have promised him, saying, There shall not fail you a man in my sight to sit on the throne of Yisra'el, if only your children take heed to their way, to walk before me as you have walked before me.

But I will not completely take my loving kindness from him, nor allow my faithfulness to fail.


Once have I sworn by my holiness, I will not lie to David.


It will be established forever like the moon, the faithful witness in the sky.* Selah.


The heavens will praise your wonders, LORD; your faithfulness also in the assembly of the holy ones.


God is not a man, that he should lie, nor the son of man, that he should repent. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not make it good?


He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Elyon. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father, David,


Therefore, being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that of the fruit of his body, according to the flesh, he would raise up the Messiah to sit on his throne,


that by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we may have a strong encouragement, who have fled for refuge to take hold of the hope set before us.


Also the Strength of Yisra'el will not lie nor repent; for he is not a man, that he should repent.
