but when this became known to the king, he commanded by letters that his wicked device, which he had devised against the Jews, should return on his own head, and that he and his sons should be hanged on the gallows.


*Why aren't times laid up by the Almighty? Why don't those who know him see his days?


Daughter of Bavel, doomed to destruction, he will be happy who rewards you, as you have served us.


The evil deeds of the wicked ensnare him. The cords of his sin hold him firmly.


Thus says the LORD against all my evil neighbors, who touch the inheritance which I have caused my people Yisra'el to inherit: behold, I will pluck them up from off their land, and will pluck up the house of Yehudah from among them.


For thus says the LORD: Behold, they to whom it didn't pertain to drink of the cup shall certainly drink; and are you he who shall altogether go unpunished? you shall not go unpunished, but you shall surely drink.


Call together the archers against Bavel, all those who bend the bow; encamp against her round about; let none of it escape: recompense her according to her work; according to all that she has done, do to her; for she has been proud against the LORD, against the Holy One of Yisra'el.


for the destroyer is come on her, even on Bavel, and her mighty men are taken, their bows are broken in pieces; for the LORD is a God of recompenses, he will surely requite.

For judgment is without mercy to him who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.
