David numbered the people who were with him, and set captains of thousands and captains of hundreds over them.


He said to him, Thus says the LORD, Because you have let go out of your hand the man whom I had devoted to destruction, therefore your life shall go for his life, and your people for his people.


The man of God was angry with him, and said, You should have struck five or six times: then had you struck Syria until you had consumed it, whereas now you shall strike Syria but thrice.


It happened, as soon as he came near to the camp, that he saw the calf and the dancing: and Moshe' anger grew hot, and he threw the tablets out of his hands, and broke them beneath the mountain.


Aharon said, *Don't let the anger of my lord grow hot. You know the people, that they are set on evil.


Moshe diligently inquired about the goat of the sin offering, and, behold, it was burned: and he was angry with El`azar and with Itamar, the sons of Aharon who were left, saying,


Now the man Moshe was very humble, above all the men who were on the surface of the earth.


Moshe, and El`azar the Kohen, and all the princes of the congregation, went forth to meet them outside of the camp.


Moshe said to them, Have you saved all the women alive?


The officers who were over the thousands of the army, the captains of thousands, and the captains of hundreds, came near to Moshe;


*Be angry, and don't sin.* Don't let the sun go down on your wrath,


and he will appoint them to him for captains of thousands, and captains of fifties; and [he will set some] to plow his ground, and to reap his harvest, and to make his instruments of war, and the instruments of his chariots.
