53 But the Levites shall encamp around the Tabernacle of the Testimony, that there may be no wrath on the congregation of the children of Yisra'el: and the Levites shall be responsible for the Tabernacle of the Testimony.*

and that they should keep the charge of the tent of meeting, and the charge of the holy place, and the charge of the sons of Aharon their brothers, for the service of the house of the LORD.


But as for us, the LORD is our God, and we have not forsaken him; and [we have] Kohanim ministering to the LORD, the sons of Aharon, and the Levites in their work:


and they burn to the LORD every morning and every evening burnt offerings and sweet incense: the show bread also [set they] in order on the pure table; and the menorah of gold with the lamps of it, to burn every evening: for we keep the charge of the LORD our God; but you have forsaken him.


Therefore thus says the LORD of Armies concerning the prophets: Behold, I will feed them with wormwood, and make them drink the water of gall; for from the prophets of Yerushalayim is ungodliness gone forth into all the land.


the prophets prophesy falsely, and the Kohanim bear rule by their means; and my people love to have it so: and what will you do in the end of it?


Moshe said to Aharon, and to El`azar and to Itamar, his sons, *Don't let the hair of your heads go loose, neither tear your clothes; that you don't die, and that he not be angry with all the congregation: but let your brothers, the whole house of Yisra'el, bewail the burning which the LORD has kindled.


but appoint the Levites over the Tabernacle of the Testimony, and over all its furnishings, and over all that belongs to it. They shall carry the tabernacle, and all its furnishings; and they shall take care of it, and shall encamp around it.


Thus the children of Yisra'el did. According to all that the LORD commanded Moshe, so they did.


Moshe said to Aharon, Take your censer, and put fire therein from off the altar, and lay incense thereon, and carry it quickly to the congregation, and make atonement for them: for there is wrath gone out from the LORD; the plague is begun.


[seems it but] a small thing to you, that the God of Yisra'el has separated you from the congregation of Yisra'el, to bring you near to himself, to do the service of the tent of the LORD, and to stand before the congregation to minister to them;


Moshe laid up the rods before the LORD in the tent of the testimony.


*Then the tent of meeting shall set out, with the camp of the Levites in the midst of the camps. As they encamp, so shall they set out, every man in his place, by their standards.


The families of the Gershoni shall encamp behind the tabernacle westward.


The families of the sons of Kehat shall encamp on the south side of the tabernacle.


The prince of the fathers' house of the families of Merari was Tzuri'el the son of Avichayil. They shall encamp on the north side of the tabernacle.


Those who encamp before the tabernacle eastward, in front of the Tent of Meeting toward the sunrise, shall be Moshe, and Aharon and his sons, keeping the charge of the sanctuary for the charge of the children of Yisra'el. The stranger who comes near shall be put to death.


Of the children of Yisra'el's half, you shall take one drawn out of every fifty, of the persons, of the oxen, of the donkeys, and of the flocks, [even] of all the livestock, and give them to the Levites, who keep the charge of the tent of the LORD.
