It happened at evening, that David arose from off his bed, and walked on the roof of the king's house: and from the roof he saw a woman bathing; and the woman was very beautiful to look on.


Yeho'ash king of Yisra'el took Amatzyah king of Yehudah, the son of Yeho'ash the son of Achazyah, at Beit-Shemesh, and came to Yerushalayim, and broke down the wall of Yerushalayim from the gate of Efrayim to the corner gate, four hundred cubits.


Yehoshafat stood in the assembly of Yehudah and Yerushalayim, in the house of the LORD, before the new court;


He built altars for all the army of the sky in the two courts of the house of the LORD.


By the spring gate, and straight before them, they went up by the stairs of the city of David, at the ascent of the wall, above the house of David, even to the water gate eastward.


and above the gate of Efrayim, and by the old gate, and by the fish gate, and the tower of Chanan'el, and the tower of Hammeah, even to the sheep gate: and they stood still in the gate of the guard.


(Now the temple servants 1 lived in `Ofel, to the place over against the water gate toward the east, and the tower that stands out.)


All the people gathered themselves together as one man into the broad place that was before the water gate; and they spoke to Ezra the scribe to bring the scroll of the Torah of Moshe, which the LORD had commanded to Yisra'el.


He read therein before the broad place that was before the water gate from early morning until midday, in the presence of the men and the women, and of those who could understand; and the ears of all the people were [attentive] to the scroll of the Torah.


and the houses of Yerushalayim, and the houses of the kings of Yehudah, which are defiled, shall be as the place of Tofet, even all the houses on whose roofs they have burned incense to all the army of the sky, and have poured out drink offerings to other gods.


and the Kasdim, who fight against this city, shall come and set this city on fire, and burn it, with the houses, on whose roofs they have offered incense to Ba`al, and poured out drink offerings to other gods, to provoke me to anger.


When you build a new house, then you shall make a battlement for your roof, that you don't bring blood on your house, if any man fall from there.
