You will save the afflicted people, But your eyes are on the haughty, that you may bring them down.


Then the king said to Haman, *Hurry and take the clothing and the horse, as you have said, and do this for Mordekhai the Jew, who sits at the king's gate. Let nothing fail of all that you have spoken.*


When they cast down, you shall say, 'be lifted up.' He will save the humble person.


For though the LORD is high, yet he looks after the lowly; but the proud, he knows from afar.


For you will save the afflicted people, but the haughty eyes you will bring down.


The fear of the LORD teaches wisdom. Before honor is humility.


Before destruction the heart of man is proud, but before honor is humility.


It is not good to eat much honey; nor is it honorable to seek one's own honor.


A man's pride brings him low, but one of lowly spirit gains honor.


The lofty looks of man will be brought low, the haughtiness of men will be bowed down, and the LORD alone will be exalted in that day.


The loftiness of man shall be bowed down, and the haughtiness of men shall be brought low; and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day.

I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but he who humbles himself will be exalted.*


But let the brother in humble circumstances glory in his high position;


Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he will exalt you.


But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, *God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.*


Likewise, you younger ones, be subject to the elder. Yes, all of you gird yourselves with humility, to subject yourselves to one another; for *God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.*


Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time;


Shemu'el said, *Though you were little in your own sight, weren't you made the head of the tribes of Yisra'el? the LORD anointed you king over Yisra'el;
