The LORD God formed man from the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.


Now therefore when I come to your servant my father, and the boy is not with us; seeing that his life is bound up in the boy's life;


David said to him, How were you not afraid to put forth your hand to destroy the LORD's anointed?


You mountains of Gilboa, let there be no dew nor rain on you, neither fields of offerings; For there the shield of the mighty was vilely cast away, The shield of Sha'ul was not anointed with oil.


But the people said, You shall not go forth: for if we flee away, they will not care for us; neither if half of us die, will they care for us: but you are worth ten thousand of us; therefore now it is better that you are ready to help us out of the city.

This thing isn't good that you have done. As the LORD lives, you are worthy to die, because you have not kept watch over your lord, the LORD's anointed. Now see where the king's spear is, and the jar of water that was at his head.


David said to Avishai, Don't destroy him; for who can put forth his hand against the LORD's anointed, and be guiltless?
