The Kohanim didn't say, Where is the LORD? and those who handle the law didn't know me: the rulers also transgressed against me, and the prophets prophesied by Ba`al, and walked after things that do not profit.

Then said the prophet Yirmeyahu to Chananyah the prophet, Hear now, Chananyah: the LORD has not sent you; but you make this people to trust in a lie.

Thus says the LORD of Armies, the God of Yisra'el, concerning Ach'av the son of Kolayah, and concerning Tzidkiyahu the son of Ma`aseyah, who prophesy a lie to you in my name: Behold, I will deliver them into the hand of Nevukhadnetzar 1 king of Bavel; and he shall kill them before your eyes;

Where now are your prophets who prophesied to you, saying, The king of Bavel shall not come against you, nor against this land?

the prophets prophesy falsely, and the Kohanim bear rule by their means; and my people love to have it so: and what will you do in the end of it?

[It is] because of the sins of her prophets, [and] the iniquities of her Kohanim, That have shed the blood of the just in the midst of her.

Because with lies you have grieved the heart of the righteous, whom I have not made sad; and strengthened the hands of the wicked, that he should not return from his wicked way, and be saved alive:

There is a conspiracy of her prophets in the midst of it, like a roaring lion ravening the prey: they have devoured souls; they take treasure and precious things; they have made her widows many in the midst of it.

The days of visitation have come. The days of reckoning have come. Yisra'el will consider the prophet to be a fool, and the man who is inspired to be insane, because of the abundance of your sins, and because your hostility is great.

If a man walking in a spirit of falsehood lies: *I will prophesy to you of wine and of strong drink;* he would be the prophet of this people.

But as for me, I am full of power by the Spirit of the LORD, and of judgment, and of might, to declare to Ya`akov his disobedience, and to Yisra'el his sin.
