Her gates shall lament and mourn; and she shall be desolate and sit on the ground.


The voice of news, behold, it comes, and a great commotion out of the north country, to make the cities of Yehudah a desolation, a dwelling place of jackals.


Yehudah mourns, and the gates of it languish, they sit in black on the ground; and the cry of Yerushalayim is gone up.


I will make Yerushalayim heaps, a dwelling place of jackals; and I will make the cities of Yehudah a desolation, without inhabitant.


They have heard that I sigh; there is none to comfort me; All my enemies have heard of my trouble; they are glad that you have done it: You will bring the day that you have proclaimed, and they shall be like me.


The young men bare the mill; The children stumbled under the wood.


The elders have ceased from the gate, The young men from their music.


I will visit on her the days of the Ba`alim, to which she burned incense, when she decked herself with her earrings and her jewels, and went after her lovers, and forgot me,* says the LORD.


I will send the wild animals among you, which will rob you of your children, destroy your livestock, and make you few in number; and your roads will become desolate.


Therefore Tziyon for your sake will be plowed like a field, and Yerushalayim will become heaps of rubble, and the mountain of the temple like the high places of a forest.
