and came to the stronghold of Tzor, and to all the cities of the Chivvi, and of the Kena`anim; and they went out to the south of Yehudah, at Be'er-Sheva.


So Shlomo held the feast at that time, and all Yisra'el with him, a great assembly, from the entrance of Chamat to the brook of Egypt, before the LORD our God, seven days and seven days, even fourteen days.


As for all the people who were left of the Amori, the Chitti, the Perizzi, the Chivvi, and the Yevusi, who were not of the children of Yisra'el;


The west side shall be the great sea, from the [south] border as far as over against the entrance of Chamat. This is the west side.


`Amalek dwells in the land of the South: and the Chittite, and the Yevusi, and the Amori, dwell in the hill country; and the Kena`ani dwells by the sea, and along by the side of the Yarden.


from Mount Hor you shall mark out to the entrance of Chamat; and the goings out of the border shall be at Tzedad;


turn, and take your journey, and go to the hill country of the Amori, and to all [the places] near there, in the `Aravah, in the hill country, and in the lowland, and in the South, and by the seashore, the land of the Kena`anim, and Levanon, as far as the great river, the river Perat.


([which] Chermon the Tzidonim call Siryon, and the Amori call it Senir;)


There was not a city that made shalom with the children of Yisra'el, save the Chivvi the inhabitants of Giv`on: they took all in battle.


to the Kena`ani on the east and on the west, and the Amori, and the Chittite, and the Perizzi, and the Yevusi in the hill country, and the Chivvi under Chermon in the land of Mitzpah.


from the Shichor, which is before Egypt, even to the border of `Ekron northward, [which] is reckoned to the Kena`anim; the five lords of the Pelishtim; the `Azati, and the Ashdodi, the Eshkeloni, the Gitti, and the `Ekroni; also the `Avvim,


and the land of the Givli, and all Levanon, toward the sunrise, from Ba`al-Gad under Mount Chermon to the entrance of Chamat;


and `Evron, and Rechov, and Chammon, and Kanah, even to great Tzidon;


The men of Yisra'el said to the Chivvi, What if you dwell among us; and how shall we make a covenant with you?


The Tzidonim also, and the `Amaleki, and the Ma`on, did oppress you; and you cried to me, and I saved you out of their hand.


The anger of the LORD was kindled against Yisra'el, and he sold them into the hand of the Pelishtim, and into the hand of the children of `Ammon.


But his father and his mother didn't know that it was of the LORD; for he sought an occasion against the Pelishtim. Now at that time the Pelishtim had rule over Yisra'el.


Then the five men departed, and came to Layish, and saw the people who were therein, how they lived in security, after the manner of the Tzidonim, quiet and secure; for there was none in the land, possessing authority, that might put [them] to shame in anything, and they were far from the Tzidonim, and had no dealings with any man.


only that the generations of the children of Yisra'el might know, to teach them war, at the least such as before knew nothing of it:


The LORD sold them into the hand of Yavin king of Kena`an, who reigned in Chatzor; the captain of whose army was Sisera, who lived in Charoshet of the Gentiles.


The Pelishtim assembled themselves together to fight with Yisra'el, thirty thousand chariots, and six thousand horsemen, and people as the sand which is on the seashore in multitude: and they came up, and encamped in Mikhmash, eastward of Beit-Aven.


The lords of the Pelishtim passed on by hundreds, and by thousands; and David and his men passed on in the rearward with Akhish.


When the five lords of the Pelishtim had seen it, they returned to `Ekron the same day.


and the golden mice, according to the number of all the cities of the Pelishtim belonging to the five lords, both of fortified cities and of country villages, even to the great stone, whereon they set down the ark of the LORD, [which stone remains] to this day in the field of Yehoshua of Beit-Shemesh.


Then they said, *What shall be the trespass offering which we shall return to him?* They said, *Five golden tumors, and five golden mice, [according to] the number of the lords of the Pelishtim; for one plague was on you all, and on your lords.
