and Yishma`yahu the Giv`oni, a mighty man among the thirty, and over the thirty, and Yirmeyahu, and Yachazi'el, and Yochanan, and Yozavad the Gederatite,


These were the sons of Kalev, the son of Chur, the firstborn of Efratah: Shoval the father of Kiryat-Ye`arim,


Shoval the father of Kiryat-Ye`arim had sons: Haro'e, half of the Menuchot.


The families of Kiryat-Ye`arim: The Yitri, and the Puti, and the Shumati, and the Mishra`i; of them came the Tzor`ati and the Eshta'uli.


For the tent of the LORD, which Moshe made in the wilderness, and the altar of burnt offering, were at that time in the high place at Giv`on.


The children of Kiryat-Arim, Kefirah, and Be'erot, seven hundred forty-three.


The men of Kiryat-Ye`arim, Kefirah, and Be'erot, seven hundred forty-three.


There was also a man who prophesied in the name of the LORD, Uriyah the son of Shemayah of Kiryat-Ye`arim; and he prophesied against this city and against this land according to all the words of Yirmeyahu:


that they feared greatly, because Giv`on was a great city, as one of the royal cities, and because it was greater than `Ai, and all the men of it were mighty.


Kiryat-Ba`al (the same is Kiryat-Ye`arim), and Rabbah; two cities with their villages.


and the border extended from the top of the mountain to the spring of the waters of Nefto'ach, and went out to the cities of Mount `Efron; and the border extended to Ba`alah (the same is Kiryat-Ye`arim);


The border extended [there], and turned about on the west quarter southward, from the mountain that lies before Beit-Choron southward; and the goings out of it were at Kiryat-Ba`al (the same is Kiryat-Ye`arim), a city of the children of Yehudah: this was the west quarter.


The south quarter was from the uttermost part of Kiryat-Ye`arim; and the border went out westward, and went out to the spring of the waters of Nefto'ach;


It happened at the end of three days after they had made a covenant with them, that they heard that they were their neighbors, and that they lived among them.


The children of Yisra'el didn't strike them, because the princes of the congregation had sworn to them by the LORD, the God of Yisra'el. All the congregation murmured against the princes.


But when the inhabitants of Giv`on heard what Yehoshua had done to Yericho and to `Ai,


They said to him, From a very far country your servants are come because of the name of the LORD your God: for we have heard the fame of him, and all that he did in Egypt,


They went up, and encamped in Kiryat-Ye`arim, in Yehudah: therefore they called that place Machane-Dan, to this day; behold, it is behind Kiryat-Ye`arim.


They sent messengers to the inhabitants of Kiryat-Ye`arim, saying, The Pelishtim have brought back the ark of the LORD; come you down, and bring it up to you.


The men of Kiryat-Ye`arim came, and fetched up the ark of the LORD, and brought it into the house of Avinadav in the hill, and sanctified El`azar his son to keep the ark of the LORD.
