The time drew near that Yisra'el must die, and he called his son Yosef, and said to him, *If now I have found favor in your sight, please put your hand under my thigh, and deal kindly and truly with me. Please don't bury me in Egypt,


David sent messengers to the men of Yavesh-Gil`ad, and said to them, Blessed be you of the LORD, that you have shown this kindness to your lord, even to Sha'ul, and have buried him.


Now the LORD show loving kindness and truth to you: and I also will requite you this kindness, because you have done this thing.


David said, Is there yet any who is left of the house of Sha'ul, that I may show him kindness for Yonatan's sake?

But Rachav the prostitute, and her father's household, and all that she had, did Yehoshua save alive; and she lived in the midst of Yisra'el to this day, because she hid the messengers, whom Yehoshua sent to spy out Yericho.


Therefore deal kindly with your servant; for you have brought your servant into a covenant of the LORD with you: but if there be in me iniquity, kill me yourself; for why should you bring me to your father?*
