Our soul is exceedingly filled with the scoffing of those who are at ease, with the contempt of the proud.


But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised by the people.


Let the lying lips be mute, which speak against the righteous insolently, with pride and contempt.


This is Yochanan's testimony, when the Judeans sent priests and Levites from Yerushalayim to ask him, *Who are you?*


Many of them said, *He has a demon, and is insane! Why do you listen to him?*


The multitude answered, *You have a demon! Who seeks to kill you?*


The Judeans therefore said among themselves, *Where will this man go that we won't find him? Will he go to the Diaspora among the Greeks, and teach the Greeks?


Then the Judeans answered him, *Don't we say well that you are a Shomroni, and have a demon?*


Then the Judeans said to him, *Now we know that you have a demon. Avraham died, and the prophets; and you say, 'If a man keeps my word, he will never taste of death.'


For consider him who has endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, that you don't grow weary, fainting in your souls.


Let us therefore go out to him outside of the camp, bearing his reproach.
