The messenger who went to call Mikhayahu spoke to him, saying, See now, the words of the prophets [declare] good to the king with one mouth: please let your word be like the word of one of them, and speak you good.


But all their works they do to be seen by men. They make their tefillin broad, enlarge the tzitziyot of their garments,


and said to him, *If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, for it is written, 'He will give his angels charge concerning you.' and, 'On their hands they will bear you up, so that you don't dash your foot against a stone.'*


*Moreover when you fast, don't be like the hypocrites, with sad faces. For they disfigure their faces, that they may be seen by men to be fasting. Most certainly I tell you, they have received their reward.


*When you pray, you shall not be as the hypocrites, for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Most certainly, I tell you, they have received their reward.


The good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings out that which is good, and the evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings out that which is evil, for out of the abundance of the heart, his mouth speaks.


Yeshua answered him, *I spoke openly to the world. I always taught in synagogues, and in the temple, where the Jews always meet. I said nothing in secret.


His brothers therefore said to him, *Depart from here, and go into Yehudah, that your talmidim also may see your works which you do.


For even his brothers didn't believe in him.
