I indeed immerse you in water for repentance, but he who comes after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to carry. He will immerse you in the Holy Spirit.


He preached, saying, *After me comes he who is mightier than I, the thong of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and loosen.


Yochanan answered them all, *I indeed immerse you with water, but he comes who is mightier than I, the latchet of whose sandals I am not worthy to loosen. He will immerse you in the Holy Spirit and fire,


Yochanan testified about him. He cried out, saying, *This was he of whom I said, 'He who comes after me has surpassed me, for he was before me.'*

Many came to him. They said, *Yochanan indeed did no sign, but everything that Yochanan said about this man is true.*


As Yochanan was fulfilling his course, he said, 'What do you suppose that I am? I am not he. But behold, one comes after me the sandals of whose feet I am not worthy to untie.'


Sha'ul said, *Yochanan indeed immersed with the immersion of repentance, saying to the people that they should believe in the one who would come after him, that is, in Yeshua.*
