Yo'av said, As God lives, if you had not spoken, surely then in the morning the people had gone away, nor followed everyone his brother.


Eliyahu the Tishbi, who was of the foreigners of Gil`ad, said to Ach'av, As the LORD, the God of Yisra'el, lives, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word.


Eliyahu said, As the LORD of Armies lives, before whom I stand, I will surely show myself to him today.


When she came to the man of God to the hill, she caught hold of his feet. Gechazi came near to thrust her away; but the man of God said, Let her alone: for her soul is vexed within her; and the LORD has hid it from me, and has not told me.


Is it good to you that you should oppress, that you should despise the work of your hands, and smile on the counsel of the wicked?


God delivers me to the ungodly, and casts me into the hands of the wicked.


know now that God has subverted me, and has surrounded me with his net.


For God has made my heart faint. The Almighty has terrified me.


For Iyov has said, 'I am righteous, God has taken away my right:


*Do you think this to be your right, or do you say, 'My righteousness is more than God's,'


Will you even annul my judgment? Will you condemn me, that you may be justified?


For he breaks me with a storm, and multiplies my wounds without cause.


He will not allow me to catch my breath, but fills me with bitterness.


Why do you say, Ya`akov, and speak, Yisra'el, *My way is hidden from the LORD, and the justice due me is disregarded by my God?*


It shall happen, if they will diligently learn the ways of my people, to swear by my name, As the LORD lives; even as they taught my people to swear by Ba`al; then shall they be built up in the midst of my people.


and you shall swear, As the LORD lives, in truth, in justice, and in righteousness; and the nations shall bless themselves in him, and in him shall they glory.


Though they say, As the LORD lives; surely they swear falsely.


Tell them, As I live, says the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn you, turn you from your evil ways; for why will you die, house of Yisra'el?


but in very deed, as I live, and as all the earth shall be filled with the glory of the LORD;


Stay this night, and it shall be in the morning, that if he will perform to you the part of a kinsman, well; let him do the kinsman's part: but if he will not do the part of a kinsman to you, then will I do the part of a kinsman to you, as the LORD lives: lie down until the morning.


For, as the LORD lives, who saves Yisra'el, though it be in Yonatan my son, he shall surely die. But there was not a man among all the people who answered him.


The people said to Sha'ul, Shall Yonatan die, who has worked this great salvation in Yisra'el? Far from it: as the LORD lives, there shall not one hair of his head fall to the ground; for he has worked with God this day. So the people rescued Yonatan, that he didn't die.


Behold, I will send the boy, [saying], Go, find the arrows. If I tell the boy, Behold, the arrows are on this side of you; take them, and come; for there is shalom to you and no hurt, as the LORD lives.


Now therefore, my lord, as the LORD lives, and as your soul lives, seeing the LORD has withheld you from blood guiltiness, and from avenging yourself with your own hand, now therefore let your enemies, and those who seek evil to my lord, be as Naval.


For in very deed, as the LORD, the God of Yisra'el, lives, who has withheld me from hurting you, except you had hurried and come to meet me, surely there wouldn't have been left to Naval by the morning light so much as one boy.
