They are high as heaven. What can you do? They are deeper than She'ol. What can you know?


Destruction and Death say, 'We have heard a rumor of it with our ears.'


For now should I have lain down and been quiet. I should have slept, then I would have been at rest,


For it is a fire that consumes to destruction, and would root out all my increase.


Have the gates of death been revealed to you? Or have you seen the gates of the shadow of death?


Who has first given to me, that I should repay him? Everything under the heavens is mine.


He removes the mountains, and they don't know it, when he overturns them in his anger.


If I say, *Surely the darkness will overwhelm me; the light around me will be night;*


If I ascend up into heaven, you are there. If I make my bed in She'ol, behold, you are there!


Do you show wonders to the dead? Do the dead rise up and praise you? Selah.


She'ol and Avaddon are before the LORD-- how much more then the hearts of the children of men!


She'ol and Avaddon are never satisfied; and a man's eyes are never satisfied.


She'ol from beneath has moved for you to meet you at your coming. It stirs up the dead for you, even all the rulers of the earth. It has raised up from their thrones all the kings of the nations.


he reveals the deep and secret things; he knows what is in the darkness, and the light dwells with him.


Though they dig into She'ol, there my hand will take them; and though they climb up to heaven, there I will bring them down.


There is no creature that is hidden from his sight, but all things are naked and laid open before the eyes of him with whom we have to do.


They have over them as king the angel of the abyss. His name in Hebrew is *Avaddon,* but in Greek, he has the name *Apollyon.*
