Charan died before his father Terach in the land of his birth, in Ur of the Kasdim.


Terach took Avram his son, Lot the son of Charan, his son's son, and Sarai his daughter-in-law, his son Avram's wife. They went forth from Ur of the Kasdim, to go into the land of Kena`an. They came to Charan and lived there.


David said to him, From whence come you? He said to him, Out of the camp of Yisra'el am I escaped.


and the Seva'im attacked, and took them away. Yes, they have killed the servants with the edge of the sword, and I alone have escaped to tell you.*

Behold, the land of the Kasdim. This people was not. The Ashur founded it for those who dwell in the wilderness. They set up their towers. They overthrew its palaces. They made it a ruin.


the Bavlites and all the Kasdim, Pekod and Shoa and Koa, [and] all the Ashur with them; desirable young men, governors and rulers all of them, princes and men of renown, all of them riding on horses.


For, behold, I raise up the Kasdim, that bitter and hasty nation, that march through the breadth of the earth, to possess dwelling places that are not theirs.
