As a servant who earnestly desires the shadow, as a hireling who looks for his wages,


Until the day is cool, and the shadows flee away, turn, my beloved, and be like a roe or a young hart on the mountains of Beter.


Their widows are increased to me above the sand of the seas; I have brought on them against the mother of the young men a destroyer at noonday: I have caused anguish and terrors to fall on her suddenly.


She who has borne seven languishes; she has given up the spirit; her sun is gone down while it was yet day; she has been disappointed and confounded: and the residue of them will I deliver to the sword before their enemies, says the LORD.


Go up on her walls, and destroy; but don't make a full end: take away her branches; for they are not the LORD's.


They lay hold on bow and spear; they are cruel, and have no mercy; their voice roars like the sea, and they ride on horses, everyone set in array, as a man to the battle, against you, daughter of Tziyon.


The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved.


Proclaim this among the nations: *Prepare for war! Stir up the mighty men. Let all the warriors draw near. Let them come up.


The vision of `Ovadyah This is what the Lord GOD says about Edom. We have heard news from the LORD, and an ambassador is sent among the nations, saying, *Arise, and let's rise up against her in battle.


Thus says the LORD concerning the prophets who lead my people astray; for those who feed their teeth, they proclaim, *Shalom!* and whoever doesn't provide for their mouths, they prepare war against him:


For `Aza will be forsaken, and Ashkelon a desolation. They will drive out Ashdod at noonday, and `Ekron will be rooted up.
