You divided the sea by your strength. You broke the heads of the sea monsters in the waters.


let's swallow them up alive like She'ol, and whole, like those who go down into the pit.


But the ka`at and the porcupine will possess it. The owl and the raven will dwell in it. He will stretch the line of confusion over it, and the plumb line of emptiness.


But this is a robbed and plundered people. All of them are snared in holes, and they are hidden in prisons. They have become a prey, and no one delivers; and a spoil, and no one says, 'Restore them!'


Yisra'el is a hunted sheep; the lions have driven him away: first, the king of Ashur devoured him; and now at last Nevukhadnetzar 1 king of Bavel has broken his bones.


All who found them have devoured them; and their adversaries said, We are not guilty, because they have sinned against the LORD, the habitation of righteousness, even the LORD, the hope of their fathers.


I will execute judgment on Bel in Bavel, and I will bring forth out of his mouth that which he has swallowed up; and the nations shall not flow any more to him: yes, the wall of Bavel shall fall.


As Bavel has caused the slain of Yisra'el to fall, so at Bavel shall fall the slain of all the land.


How the city sits solitary, that was full of people! She has become as a widow, who was great among the nations! She who was a princess among the provinces is become tributary!


All your enemies have opened their mouth wide against you; They hiss and gnash the teeth; they say, We have swallowed her up; Certainly this is the day that we looked for; we have found, we have seen it.


therefore prophesy, and say, Thus says the Lord GOD: Because, even because they have made you desolate, and swallowed you up on every side, that you might be a possession to the residue of the nations, and you are taken up in the lips of talkers, and the evil report of the people;

For the LORD restores the excellency of Ya`akov, as the excellency of Yisra'el; for the destroyers have destroyed them, and ruined their vine branches.


*Woe to you, scribes and Perushim, hypocrites! For you devour widows' houses, and as a pretense you make long prayers. Therefore you will receive greater condemnation.
