Behold, I will put a spirit in him, and he shall hear news, and shall return to his own land; and I will cause him to fall by the sword in his own land.


Daughter of Bavel, doomed to destruction, he will be happy who rewards you, as you have served us.


Therefore I will make the heavens tremble, and the earth will be shaken out of its place in the wrath of the LORD of Armies, and in the day of his fierce anger.


I will ascend above the heights of the clouds! I will make myself like the Elyon!*


The burden of the wilderness of the sea. As whirlwinds in the South sweep through, it comes from the wilderness, from an awesome land.


Come down, and sit in the dust, virgin daughter of Bavel; sit on the ground without a throne, daughter of the Kasdim: for you shall no more be called tender and delicate.


Behold, the storm of the LORD, [even his] wrath, is gone forth, yes, a whirling storm: it shall burst on the head of the wicked.


On `Elam will I bring the four winds from the four quarters of the sky, and will scatter them toward all those winds; and there shall be no nation where the outcasts of `Elam shall not come.


Go up against the land of Meratayim, even against it, and against the inhabitants of Pekod: kill and utterly destroy after them, says the LORD, and do according to all that I have commanded you.


I have laid a snare for you, and you are also taken, Bavel, and you weren't aware: you are found, and also caught, because you have striven against the LORD.

For, behold, I will stir up and cause to come up against Bavel a company of great nations from the north country; and they shall set themselves in array against her; from there she shall be taken: their arrows shall be as of an expert mighty man; none shall return in vain.


Though Bavel should mount up to the sky, and though she should fortify the height of her strength, yet from me shall destroyers come to her, says the LORD.


Yirmeyahu wrote in a book all the evil that should come on Bavel, even all these words that are written concerning Bavel.


But it was plucked up in fury, it was cast down to the ground, and the east wind dried up its fruit: its strong rods were broken off and withered; the fire consumed them.


Though he is fruitful among his brothers, an east wind will come, the breath of the LORD coming up from the wilderness; and his spring will become dry, and his fountain will be dried up. He will plunder the storehouse of treasure.


Does the shofar alarm sound in a city, without the people being afraid? Does evil happen to a city, and the LORD hasn't done it?


For thus says the LORD of Armies: 'For honor he has sent me to the nations which plundered you; for he who touches you touches the apple of his eye.


He fell on the earth, and heard a voice saying to him, *Sha'ul, Sha'ul, why do you persecute me?*
