Therefore it will happen that, when the Lord has performed his whole work on Mount Tziyon and on Yerushalayim, I will punish the fruit of the willful proud heart of the king of Ashur, and the insolence of his haughty looks.


All the nations shall serve him, and his son, and his son's son, until the time of his own land come: and then many nations and great kings shall make him their bondservant.


For that day is [a day] of the Lord, the LORD of Armies, a day of vengeance, that he may avenge him of his adversaries: and the sword shall devour and be satiate, and shall drink its fill of their blood; for the Lord, the LORD of Armies, has a sacrifice in the north country by the river Perat.


Your shepherds slumber, king of Ashur. Your nobles lie down. Your people are scattered on the mountains, and there is no one to gather them.


It will happen that all those who look at you will flee from you, and say, 'Nineveh is laid waste! Who will mourn for her?' Where will I seek comforters for you?*


Because you have plundered many nations, all the remnant of the peoples will plunder you, because of men's blood, and for the violence done to the land, to the city and to all who dwell in it.


if I whet my glittering sword, My hand take hold on judgment; I will render vengeance to my adversaries, and will recompense those who hate me.
