After these things the word of the LORD came to Avram in a vision, saying, *Don't be afraid, Avram. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward.*


David said to Gad, I am in a great strait: let us fall now into the hand of the LORD; for his mercies are great; and let me not fall into the hand of man.


Eliyahu said, As the LORD of Armies lives, before whom I stand, I will surely show myself to him today.


So `Ovadyah 1 went to meet Ach'av, and told him; and Ach'av went to meet Eliyahu.


He answered, Don't be afraid; for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.


Call on me in the day of trouble. I will deliver you, and you will honor me.*


They shall fight against you; but they shall not prevail against you: for I am with you, says the LORD, to deliver you.


Shefatyah the son of Mattan, and Gedalyahu the son of Pashchur, and Yukhal the son of Shelemyahu, and Pashchur the son of Malkiyah, heard the words that Yirmeyahu spoke to all the people, saying,


My lord the king, these men have done evil in all that they have done to Yirmeyahu the prophet, whom they have cast into the dungeon; and he is likely to die in the place where he is, because of the famine; for there is no more bread in the city.


Then the king commanded, and they brought Daniyel, and cast him into the den of lions. [Now] the king spoke and said to Daniyel, Your God whom you serve continually, he will deliver you.


*The King will answer them, 'Most certainly I tell you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.'
