and Yehoiakim the king of Yehudah went out to the king of Bavel, he, and his mother, and his servants, and his princes, and his officers: and the king of Bavel took him in the eighth year of his reign.


It happened in the seven and thirtieth year of the captivity of Yehoiakim king of Yehudah, in the twelfth month, on the seven and twentieth day of the month, that Evil-Merodakh king of Bavel, in the year that he began to reign, did lift up the head of Yehoiakim king of Yehudah out of prison;


Let your name be established and magnified forever, saying, the LORD of Armies is the God of Yisra'el, even a God to Yisra'el: and the house of David your servant is established before you.


Then were assembled to me everyone who trembled at the words of the God of Yisra'el, because of the trespass of them of the captivity; and I sat confounded until the evening offering.


But he stands alone, and who can oppose him? What his soul desires, even that he does.


Turn again, we beg you, God Tzeva'ot. Look down from heaven, and see, and visit this vine,


Turn us again, God Tzeva'ot. Cause your face to shine, and we will be saved.


I spoke to Tzidkiyahu king of Yehudah according to all these words, saying, Bring your necks under the yoke of the king of Bavel, and serve him and his people, and live.


Don't listen to them; serve the king of Bavel, and live: why should this city become a desolation?


It shall happen, that the nation and the kingdom which will not serve the same Nevukhadnetzar 1 king of Bavel, and that will not put their neck under the yoke of the king of Bavel, that nation will I punish, says the LORD, with the sword, and with the famine, and with the pestilence, until I have consumed them by his hand.


Thus says the LORD, He who remains in this city shall die by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence; but he who goes forth to the Kasdim shall live, and his life shall be to him for a prey, and he shall live.


that all the princes of the king of Bavel came in, and sat in the middle gate, [to wit], Nergal-Sar'etzer, Samgarnebo, Sarsekhim, Rav-Saris, Nergal-Sar'etzer, Rav-Mag, with all the rest of the princes of the king of Bavel.


Gedalyahu the son of Achikam the son of Shafan swore to them and to their men, saying, Don't be afraid to serve the Kasdim: dwell in the land, and serve the king of Bavel, and it shall be well with you.


Therefore now thus says the LORD, the God Tzeva'ot, the God of Yisra'el: Why commit you [this] great evil against your own souls, to cut off from you man and woman, infant and suckling, out of the midst of Yehudah, to leave you none remaining;


Behold, the glory of the God of Yisra'el was there, according to the appearance that I saw in the plain.


Therefore will I cause you to go into captivity beyond Damascus,* says the LORD, whose name is the God Tzeva'ot.
