But to the king of Yehudah, who sent you to inquire of the LORD, thus shall you tell him, Thus says the LORD, the God of Yisra'el: As touching the words which you have heard,


The king of Egypt didn't come again out of his land any more; for the king of Bavel had taken, from the brook of Egypt to the river Perat, all that pertained to the king of Egypt.


There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the LORD.


For Egypt helps in vain, and to no purpose; therefore have I called her Rachav who sits still.


Behold, you trust in the staff of this bruised reed, even in Egypt, which if a man leans on it, it will go into his hand and pierce it. So is Par`oh king of Egypt to all who trust in him.


Now what have you to do in the way to Egypt, to drink the waters of the Shichor? or what have you to do in the way to Ashur, to drink the waters of the River?


Why go you about so much to change your way? you shall be ashamed of Egypt also, as you were ashamed of Ashur.


From there also shall you go forth, with your hands on your head: for the LORD has rejected those in whom you trust, and you shall not prosper with them.


The word which came to Yirmeyahu from the LORD, when king Tzidkiyahu sent to him Pashchur the son of Malkiyah, and Tzefanyah the son of Ma`aseyah, the Kohen, saying,


Please inquire of the LORD for us; for Nevukhadnetzar 1 king of Bavel makes war against us: peradventure the LORD will deal with us according to all his wondrous works, that he may go up from us.


Tzidkiyahu the king sent Yehukhal the son of Shelemyahu, and Tzefanyah the son of Ma`aseyah, the Kohen, to the prophet Yirmeyahu, saying, Pray now to the LORD our God for us.


Par`oh's army was come forth out of Egypt; and when the Kasdim who were besieging Yerushalayim heard news of them, they broke up from Yerushalayim.


Then came the word of the LORD to the prophet Yirmeyahu, saying,


Yerushalayim remembers in the days of her affliction and of her miseries all her pleasant things that were from the days of old: when her people fell into the hand of the adversary, and none did help her, The adversaries saw her, they did mock at her desolations.


Our eyes do yet fail [in looking] for our vain help: In our watching we have watched for a nation that could not save.


Neither shall Par`oh with his mighty army and great company help him in the war, when they cast up mounds and build forts, to cut off many persons.


It shall be no more the confidence of the house of Yisra'el, bringing iniquity to memory, when they turn to look after them: and they shall know that I am the Lord GOD.*'*


Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: Behold, I am against Par`oh king of Egypt, and will break his arms, the strong [arm], and that which was broken; and I will cause the sword to fall out of his hand.
