They will roar against them in that day like the roaring of the sea. If one looks to the land behold, darkness and distress. The light is darkened in its clouds.


We roar all like bears, and moan sore like doves: we look for justice, but there is none; for salvation, but it is far off from us.


Destroyers are come on all the bare heights in the wilderness; for the sword of the LORD devours from the one end of the land even to the other end of the land: no flesh has shalom.


A voice of the cry of the shepherds, and the wailing of the principal of the flock! for the LORD lays waste their pasture.


These are the words that the LORD spoke concerning Yisra'el and concerning Yehudah.


Why have I seen it? they are dismayed and are turned backward; and their mighty ones are beaten down, and have fled apace, and don't look back: terror is on every side, says the LORD.


Thus says the LORD, Behold, a people comes from the north country; and a great nation shall be stirred up from the uttermost parts of the earth.


Daughter of my people, gird you with sackcloth, and wallow yourself in ashes: make you mourning, as for an only son, most bitter lamentation; for the destroyer shall suddenly come on us.


The snorting of his horses is heard from Dan: at the sound of the neighing of his strong ones the whole land trembles; for they are come, and have devoured the land and all that is in it; the city and those who dwell therein.
