Thus says the LORD, the God of Yisra'el: Like these good figs, so will I regard the captives of Yehudah, whom I have sent out of this place into the land of the Kasdim, for good.


Now these are the words of the letter that Yirmeyahu the prophet sent from Yerushalayim to the residue of the elders of the captivity, and to the Kohanim, and to the prophets, and to all the people, whom Nevukhadnetzar 1 had carried away captive from Yerushalayim to Bavel,


(after that Yekhonyah the king, and the queen mother, and the eunuchs, [and] the princes of Yehudah and Yerushalayim, and the craftsmen, and the smiths, were departed from Yerushalayim),


Send to all them of the captivity, saying, Thus says the LORD concerning Shemayah the Nechelami: Because Shemayah has prophesied to you, and I didn't send him, and he has caused you to trust in a lie;


I will bring you forth out of the midst of it, and deliver you into the hands of strangers, and will execute judgments among you.


Go, get you to them of the captivity, to the children of your people, and speak to them, and tell them, Thus says the Lord GOD; whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear.


Then I came to them of the captivity at Tel-Aviv, that lived by the river Kevar, and to where they lived; and I sat there overwhelmed among them seven days.


Be in pain, and labor to bring forth, daughter of Tziyon, like a woman in travail; yor now you will go forth out of the city, and will dwell in the field, and will come even to Bavel. There you will be rescued. There the LORD will redeem you from the hand of your enemies.
