who have kept with your servant David my father that which you did promise him: yes, you spoke with your mouth, and have fulfilled it with your hand, as it is this day.


because your heart was tender, and you did humble yourself before the LORD, when you heard what I spoke against this place, and against the inhabitants of it, that they should become a desolation and a curse, and have torn your clothes, and wept before me; I also have heard you, says the LORD.


Therefore the wrath of the LORD was on Yehudah and Yerushalayim, and he has delivered them to be tossed back and forth, to be an astonishment, and a hissing, as you see with your eyes.


Since the days of our fathers we have been exceeding guilty to this day; and for our iniquities have we, our kings, and our Kohanim, been delivered into the hand of the kings of the lands, to the sword, to captivity, and to plunder, and to confusion of face, as it is this day.


Behold, we are servants this day, and as for the land that you gave to our fathers to eat the fruit of it and the good of it, behold, we are servants in it.


You have shown your people hard things. You have made us drink the wine that makes us stagger.


who brings princes to nothing; who makes the judges of the earth like meaningless.


You shall leave your name for a curse to my chosen; and the Lord GOD will kill you; and he will call his servants by another name:


behold, I have this day set you over the nations and over the kingdoms, to pluck up and to break down and to destroy and to overthrow, to build and to plant.


The word of the LORD came to me the second time, saying,


Thus says the LORD, After this manner will I mar the pride of Yehudah, and the great pride of Yerushalayim.


I will even give them up to be tossed back and forth among all the kingdoms of the earth for evil; to be a reproach and a proverb, a taunt and a curse, in all places where I shall drive them.


This whole land shall be a desolation, and an astonishment; and these nations shall serve the king of Bavel seventy years.


behold, I will send and take all the families of the north, says the LORD, and [I will send] to Nevukhadnetzar 1 the king of Bavel, my servant, and will bring them against this land, and against the inhabitants of it, and against all these nations round about; and I will utterly destroy them, and make them an astonishment, and a hissing, and perpetual desolations.


then will I make this house like Shiloh, and will make this city a curse to all the nations of the earth.


so that the LORD could no longer bear, because of the evil of your doings, and because of the abominations which you have committed; therefore is your land become a desolation, and an astonishment, and a curse, without inhabitant, as it is this day.


They shall be desolate in the midst of the countries that are desolate; and her cities shall be in the midst of the cities that are wasted.


He has confirmed his words, which he spoke against us, and against our judges who judged us, by bringing on us a great evil; for under the whole sky has not been done as has been done on Yerushalayim.


But I will send a fire on Yehudah, and it will devour the palaces of Yerushalayim.*


*You only have I chosen of all the families of the earth. Therefore I will punish you for all of your sins.*


For the statutes of `Omri 1 are kept, and all the works of the house of Ach'av. You walk in their counsels, that I may make you a ruin, and her inhabitants a hissing; And you will bear the reproach of my people.*


But as for you, only keep yourselves from the devoted thing, lest when you have devoted it, you take of the devoted thing; so would you make the camp of Yisra'el accursed, and trouble it.


For the time has come for judgment to begin with the household of God. If it begins first with us, what will happen to those who don't obey the Good News of God?
