He carried those who had escaped from the sword away to Bavel; and they were servants to him and his sons until the reign of the kingdom of Paras:


I will lay it a wasteland. It won't be pruned nor hoed, but it will grow briers and thorns. I will also command the clouds that they rain no rain on it.*


It shall happen, when seventy years are accomplished, that I will punish the king of Bavel, and that nation, says the LORD, for their iniquity, and the land of the Kasdim; and I will make it desolate forever.


He has left his covert, as the lion; for their land is become an astonishment because of the fierceness of the oppressing [sword], and because of his fierce anger.


They shall be carried to Bavel, and there shall they be, until the day that I visit them, says the LORD; then will I bring them up, and restore them to this place.


All the nations shall serve him, and his son, and his son's son, until the time of his own land come: and then many nations and great kings shall make him their bondservant.


For thus says the LORD of Armies, the God of Yisra'el: I have put a yoke of iron on the neck of all these nations, that they may serve Nevukhadnetzar 1 king of Bavel; and they shall serve him: and I have given him the animals of the field also.


For thus says the LORD, After seventy years are accomplished for Bavel, I will visit you, and perform my good word toward you, in causing you to return to this place.


I saw, and behold, the fruitful field was a wilderness, and all the cities of it were broken down at the presence of the LORD, [and] before his fierce anger.


For thus says the LORD, The whole land shall be a desolation; yet will I not make a full end.


and tell them, Thus says the LORD of Armies, the God of Yisra'el: Behold, I will send and take Nevukhadnetzar 1 the king of Bavel, my servant, and will set his throne on these stones that I have hidden; and he shall spread his royal pavilion over them.


so that the LORD could no longer bear, because of the evil of your doings, and because of the abominations which you have committed; therefore is your land become a desolation, and an astonishment, and a curse, without inhabitant, as it is this day.

I will stretch out my hand on them, and make the land desolate and waste, from the wilderness toward Diblah, throughout all their habitations: and they shall know that I am the LORD.


in the first year of his reign I, Daniyel, understood by the books the number of the years about which the word of the LORD came to Yirmeyahu the prophet, for the accomplishing of the desolations of Yerushalayim, even seventy years.


I will bring the land into desolation; and your enemies that dwell therein will be astonished at it.


Yet the land will be desolate because of those who dwell therein, for the fruit of their doings.


Then the angel of the LORD replied, *O LORD of Armies, how long will you not have mercy on Yerushalayim and on the cities of Yehudah, against which you have had indignation these seventy years?*


*Speak to all the people of the land, and to the Kohanim, saying, 'When you fasted and mourned in the fifth and in the seventh month for these seventy years, did you at all fast to me, really to me?
