At that time did king Achaz send to the kings of Ashur to help him.


On great waters, the seed of the Shichor, the harvest of the Nile 1, was her revenue. She was the market of nations.


Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help, and rely on horses, and trust in chariots because they are many, and in horsemen because they are very strong, but they don't look to the Holy One of Yisra'el, and they don't seek the LORD!


In that day the Lord will shave with a razor that is hired in the parts beyond the River, even with the king of Ashur, the head and the hair of the feet; and it shall also consume the beard.


Why go you about so much to change your way? you shall be ashamed of Egypt also, as you were ashamed of Ashur.


How long will you go here and there, you backsliding daughter? for the LORD has created a new thing in the earth: a woman shall encompass a man.


Our eyes do yet fail [in looking] for our vain help: In our watching we have watched for a nation that could not save.


We have given the hand to the Egyptians, To the Ashur, to be satisfied with bread.


You have played the prostitute also with the Ashur, because you were insatiable; yes, you have played the prostitute with them, and yet you weren't satisfied.


But he rebelled against him in sending his ambassadors into Egypt, that they might give him horses and much people. Shall he prosper? shall he escape who does such things? shall he break the covenant, and yet escape?


These things shall be done to you, because you have played the prostitute after the nations, and because you are polluted with their idols.
