and refused to obey, neither were mindful of your wonders that you did among them, but hardened their neck, and in their rebellion appointed a captain to return to their bondage. But you are a God ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness, and didn't forsake them.


As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. My people, those who lead you cause you to err, and destroy the way of your paths.


Behold, all of them, their works are vanity and nothing. Their molten images are wind and confusion.


He will say, Cast up, cast up, prepare the way, take up the stumbling-block out of the way of my people.


Go through, go through the gates; prepare you the way of the people; cast up, cast up the highway; gather out the stones; lift up a banner for the peoples.


your own iniquities, and the iniquities of your fathers together, says the LORD, who have burned incense on the mountains, and blasphemed me on the hills; therefore will I first measure their work into their bosom.


For those who lead this people lead them astray; and those who are led by them are destroyed.


I will utter my judgments against them touching all their wickedness, in that they have forsaken me, and have burned incense to other gods, and worshiped the works of their own hands.


They are vanity, a work of delusion: in the time of their visitation they shall perish.


Then shall the cities of Yehudah and the inhabitants of Yerushalayim go and cry to the gods to which they offer incense: but they will not save them at all in the time of their trouble.


For according to the number of your cities are your gods, Yehudah; and according to the number of the streets of Yerushalayim have you set up altars to the shameful thing, even altars to burn incense to Ba`al.


For the LORD of Armies, who planted you, has pronounced evil against you, because of the evil of the house of Yisra'el and of the house of Yehudah, which they have worked for themselves in provoking me to anger by offering incense to Ba`al.


This is your lot, the portion measured to you from me, says the LORD; because you have forgotten me, and trusted in falsehood.


LORD, my strength, and my stronghold, and my refuge in the day of affliction, to you shall the nations come from the ends of the earth, and shall say, Our fathers have inherited nothing but lies, [even] vanity and things in which there is no profit.


LORD, the hope of Yisra'el, all who forsake you shall be disappointed. Those who depart from me shall be written in the earth, because they have forsaken the LORD, the spring of living waters.


Shall the snow of Levanon fail from the rock of the field? [or] shall the cold waters that flow down from afar be dried up?


and have built the high places of Ba`al, to burn their sons in the fire for burnt offerings to Ba`al; which I didn't command, nor spoke it, neither came it into my mind:


For my people have committed two evils: they have forsaken me, the spring of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.


Your own wickedness shall correct you, and your backsliding shall reprove you: know therefore and see that it is an evil thing and a bitter, that you have forsaken the LORD your God, and that my fear is not in you, says the Lord, the LORD of Armies.


Can a virgin forget her ornaments, or a bride her attire? yet my people have forgotten me days without number.


A voice is heard on the bare heights, the weeping [and] the petitions of the children of Yisra'el; because they have perverted their way, they have forgotten the LORD their God.


Thus says the LORD of Armies, the God of Yisra'el, saying, You and your wives have both spoken with your mouths, and with your hands have fulfilled it, saying, We will surely perform our vows that we have vowed, to burn incense to the queen of the sky, and to pour out drink offerings to her: establish then your vows, and perform your vows.


They are vanity, a work of delusion: in the time of their visitation they shall perish.


Thus says the LORD, Stand you in the ways and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way; and walk therein, and you shall find rest for your souls: but they said, We will not walk [therein].


Will you steal, murder, and commit adultery, and swear falsely, and burn incense to Ba`al, and walk after other gods that you have not known,


I have set the threatening sword against all their gates, that their heart may melt, and their stumblings be multiplied: ah! it is made as lightning, it is pointed for slaughter.


neither will I let you hear any more the shame of the nations, neither shall you bear the reproach of the peoples any more, neither shall you cause your nation to stumble any more, says the Lord GOD.


They called to them, so they went from them. They sacrificed to the Ba`alim, and burned incense to engraved images.


I will visit on her the days of the Ba`alim, to which she burned incense, when she decked herself with her earrings and her jewels, and went after her lovers, and forgot me,* says the LORD.


Therefore, behold, I will hedge up your way with thorns, and I will build a wall against her, that she can't find her way.


But you have turned aside out of the way. You have caused many to stumble in the law. You have corrupted the covenant of Levi,* says the LORD of Armies.


he shall not honor his father or mother.' You have made the mitzvah of God void because of your tradition.


It is good to not eat meat, drink wine, nor do anything by which your brother stumbles, is offended, or is made weak.


They have moved me to jealousy with that which is not God. They have provoked me to anger with their vanities. I will move them to jealousy with those who are not a people. I will provoke them to anger with a foolish nation.
